ERDMAN H. PENNER (ED) April 1946 - June 2006 On the evening of June 24, 2006, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Ed passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the St. Boniface Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley, his two sons, Ken and granddaughter Sasha and Kevin (Alison) and granddaughter Madison. He is also survived by his two sisters, Lillian (Brian) and Helena (Fred), brother Bernie (Bertha), his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Ed) and Terry (Loette), as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Marie and his brother Frank. Ed was born and raised in Altona, MB. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a really great friend to all who knew him, and will be greatly missed. Ed retired from the City of Winnipeg as the Administrator of Commercial Inspections after a 27 year career. He also spent a number of years teaching Canadian Electrical Code at the Red River Community College. He enjoyed the cabin life, golfing with the boys , woodworking, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a very outgoing person with strong family values. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. Thank you to all the family, friends and neighbors for all your love and support throught out this time. Thank you very much to Dr. Hauch, Dr. Vajcner, Dr. Wong, Dr. Young, Dr. P. Daenick and all the wonderful staff at the St. Boniface Palliative Ward and Riverview Homecare team for your care and compassion. A special thank you to Dr. A. Ilnyckyj for walking with Ed through his journey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ed to Cancer Care Manitoba.
