RUDOLF OSTER April 4, 1913 - May 8, 2007 Rudy slipped peacefully into eternal life on May 8, 2007 at 9:30 p.m. He was predeceased by two infant sons, his infant grandson Terry Krentz, son-in-law Reg Krentz (Ilse), two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by Ella, his wife of 68 years, son Kurt, daughter Ilse (Phil Ens), daughter Nell (Ken Loewen), six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one brother and several nieces and nephews. Rudy was born in Brienne, Bessarabia (Romania) on April 4, 1913, where he spent both his childhood and youth on the family farm. On February 2, 1939 he married his love Ella Malke and they began their life together as farmers. In the fall of 1940, serious unrest came to that region and Rudy and Ella, along with 93,000 other Germans from Bessarabia left their home and belongings and began their trek to Germany. The Osters' final destination was Schuelingen in northern Germany where he, Ella and their three surviving children lived until the summer of 1954. Rudy, Ella and their children immigrated to Canada where his goal was to own a farm. After settling initially in Portage la Prairie, then Winnipeg, his dream became a reality when they purchased a dairy farm in Steinbach, Manitoba in May of 1963. Rudy was honest and a man of great integrity with a wonderful sense of humour. He was a man of faith, a good provider and a loving husband and father. We will miss his wonderful sense of humour and his great ability for telling a story. Sleep well Dad-you have run a difficult but successful race and we thank God for your presence in our life. We already miss you terribly. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 14, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 465 Henry Street with Pastor Al Maier officiating. Viewing will be at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at St. John's cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
