ANNA HARAHUC It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Anna Harahuc, our beloved Mom and Baba, on Sunday, July 22, 2007, at Deer Lodge Centre. Anna was predeceased by her husband Michael; parents Jan and Maria Spiwak; brothers, Michaylo and Vasyl. Anna will always be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Lesia and Mary (Perry Thibodeau); granddaughters, Zoryana and Alannah; as well as many family and friends in Poland, Canada and the U.S. Born in Lemkivschina on May 9, 1925, Anna immigrated to Canada in 1966 where she worked for a short time at Holy Family Nursing Home. After marrying Michael in 1966, she devoted her time and energy to raising her two daughters. As the girls got older, Anna returned to work part-time as an office cleaner until a brain aneurysm in 1986 forced her to retire early. Recovering from her illness she enjoyed spending time at home with family and friends. On December 31, 1992, Anna suffered a severe stroke which changed her life forever. After a brief stay at Seven Oaks Hospital, she was transferred to Deer Lodge Centre, which became her permanent residence until her passing. At Deer Lodge she led her life with a quiet dignity. Anna was a kind and gentle person who was very grateful for the care she received. You could always hear her thank the staff, in her broken English, for every turn, feeding or medication given. She was an inspiration to us all, who sometimes forget to give thanks for all the blessings God has given us, no matter how small. Anna's greatest blessings were her granddaughters, Zoryana and Alannah, who were the joys of her life. Their visits gave her something to look forward to, she took pride in their accomplishments and loved watching them grow up. She was their beloved Baba and will be truly missed. Anna was a devout Ukrainian Catholic and a longtime member of Christ the King Church. She enjoyed preparing traditional Ukrainian meals, reading, gardening and embroidering. The many servetky and rushnyky she embroidered throughout her life remain behind as cherished family heirlooms. The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of 5W, Deer Lodge Centre. Even though the faces of the staff have changed over the past 14 years, their kindness and compassion was the one constant that gave the family piece of mind, knowing that Baba was well cared for. A special thank you to Anna's two roommates (Guardian Angels), Ann Olenick and Carolynne Scott. They watched over Baba and were there to call a nurse for help when she couldn't do it herself. God Bless you both. Panahyda will be sung 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 25 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 26 at Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church, 263 Fountain Ave., with Rev. Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. VICHNAYA PAMYAT We love you Baba KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
