Great memories will be cherished by his loving wife Rochelle, and children, Ben and Marc Filiba. He leaves to mourn his mother Lil, his siblings and their families, Carol (Martin) Keller, Dwayne (Rhonda), Keith, Roger, Tanis (Chris), Shirley (Ted) Sumka, Brenda (Curtis), Bev (Brian), Brad, Linda (Arnie) Appell, Sheldon (Penny), Shaun (Christine), Sheresa (Jed), Patsy (Les) Trakalo, Brent, Wayne (Sharon) Panteluk, Danny and Amanda, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Steve also leaves brother in law Robert (Debbie) Cohen and their children Micah and Alana. He was predeceased by his father John Panteluk, and in-laws Clarice and Lorne Cohen. Steve had very close family ties that made his life rich in ways that money couldn't buy. Steve was born in Gimli, MB, June 25, 1951 and grew up in Meleb, MB. Steve attended school in Berlo and Gimli Composite High. At the age of 16 Steve set out to conquer the world and started his first job in Winnipeg at Atomic Transport. Steve continued his passion in trucking and moved to Tri-Line Express Ways and was presently employed by Payne Transport. Steve developed a great number of memorable friendships through his many miles of travel. Following in his father's footsteps, on the family farm, Steve's second passion was farming. Despite its many hardships, farming gave him great pleasure. He believed you got what you worked for, and that a hard day's work was its own reward. The warm and beautiful memories we will cherish are of a fair and generous loving man who loved his life and gave that love back to his family and friends. We all love and miss him. Prayers will be said on Tuesday July 31, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, MB. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday August 1, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Gimli, MB. Interment in the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Berlo, MB. Pallbearers, brother Wayne, and his nephews Keith, Sheldon, Brad, Brent and Danny are honored to lay Steve to rest. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Grace hospital for all their care and compassion during his brief illness. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
