MELVIN CARTER

MELVIN BARRY CARTER Suddenly, at home in Lac du Bonnet on October 19, 2009 Barry left us far too soon; two months after his 65th birthday. He leaves to mourn his wife of 41 years, Lynn, daughter Diana, son-in-law Paul Steiner, mother Doris Carter, nephews Dale (Tannis) Carter and Wade (Nadia) Carter and their families, in-laws, Cecil and Eva McDonald, Lynn's brothers, sisters and their families. He was predeceased by his father Jim (S.O.) and brother Ken Carter. Barry grew up on the farm in Petersfield, MB, went to Hartley School and then attended high school in Selkirk. He retired from MTS in 1996 after 32 years of service, which gave him good memories and friends; many of whom he kept in contact with. He spent countless happy hours cutting acres of grass and working in his gardens at home and the farm. Barry enjoyed driving anything with a motor or wheels: car, truck, tractor, motorcycle, snowmobile or quad. In retirement Barry and Lynn enjoyed many driving trips and had plans for many more. Barry was always quick to help anyone in need, yet would rarely ask for help himself. Viewing for family and friends will be held at Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk on Saturday, October 24 (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date. A special thank you to Bob, Linda, Doug and Dale. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barry may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
