CHARLES W. HOGSDEN After a courageous battle with multiple myeloma and kidney failure, Charlie fought the toughest fight of his life and lost the battle on Sunday, December 11, 2011. Charlie was born on May 27, 1946 at St. Boniface Hospital, in St. Boniface, Manitoba. For most of his life, he resided with his parents, Verna and John Hogsden, in Weston. He attended elementary school at Weston School, junior high at Cecil Rhodes, and high school at Tec-Voc where he graduated from Auto-Shop. Using his auto experience, he held many jobs in that industry as a parts specialist. Some of the companies he worked for were: Mid-Way Chrysler, Eastern Sales, Holiday Chev Olds, Canada Auto, Jim Gautier and The Truck Centre. His last place of employment was Central Transport Refrigeration. In 1963, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force 402 Squadron Reserves, where he first learned to be an aero engine mechanic, and remained there for 35 years, climbing up the rank structure until he achieved Warrant Officer. He received an honourable discharge in 1998. Among his other pleasures in life, was car racing and going to drag strips in Canada and the United States. His other love was the game of Hockey, where after retiring from playing from the 402 Bears hockey team, he became team manager/stick boy/water boy/puck retriever and anything else he could find to do pertaining to hockey. He was also timekeeper for the Winnipeg Central Hockey League. He enjoyed his holiday time with his family, where they drove cross country and shopped them til they dropped. He was predeceased by his father John William Hogsden. He leaves to mourn his wife of 26 years Lynn (Cooper), son Charlie Jr., daughters Randi and Sherri. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Darius, Jaylynn and Angel. His mother Verna Hogsden, brother Barry Hogsden and wife Val, nephew Ryan and niece Robyn and their families, and many cousins and aunts. Charlie had many, many friends and could not go anywhere without meeting at least one to stop and talk to. He will be sadly missed by all of them. His family will miss him greatly, but will always hold him close to their hearts. We know our Angel has his wings now. Fly high Bud. Love forever, your family, relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on January 13, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, 17 Wing, Building 94, Silver Avenue at Whytewold Road. Interment will be held at Brookside Cemetery. Also, Charlie's favourites will be served at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue across the street from the cemetery.
