WILLIAM (BILL) PAWLUK 1926 - 2012 It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Bill Pawluk, our Dad and Gigi, on Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Dad will now be reunited with his loving wife Nellie. Left to forever cherish his memory are his children: son Bob (Sandi), daughters Barb (Walter), Cheryl (Gerry), Cindy (Darrell), and Sharlene (Ewan); grandchildren Kim (Brad), Mark, Kaitlin, Jordan, Janessa, Brennan, Ryan, Rachel, Lauryn and Tyler; great-grandchildren Caeden and Mackenzie; brother Ernie (Phyllis); sisters Jean, Elsie (Victor) and Sophie (Clarence); sister-in-law Bonnie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife Nellie of 53 years in 2001; parents John and Anne; sisters Anne, Olga, Mary and Polly; brothers Nick, Peter, John, Ed and Mike; in-laws Joyce, Elsie and Sophie Pawluk, Mike Zurba and Walter Korolyk. Dad was born on June 20, 1926 and was raised in the Melnice area, in a family of 14 children. He married Mom in 1948 and they moved to Petersfield in 1952. His passion in life was farming and he operated a mixed grain and cattle farm for many years. While farming Dad worked a few other jobs; he owned and operated a general store, hauled coal and drove a milk truck. Dad valued hard work and never complained about the hardships of farm life. When Dad wasn't busy on the farm you would find him at the Curling Club in the winter or playing baseball in the summer and he loved organizing the Horseshoe Tournaments at the annual Petersfield Sports Days. As a young man he was known for his Square Dance calling, and in later years he would often entertain his grandchildren with a few calls. It was not long after the loss of his loving wife that ill health struck Dad, and he spent his final years at Red River Place in Selkirk. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 8 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Petersfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
