ERIC KNUD NIELSEN It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Dad and Grandpa at the age of 83 years. With his wife of 54 years, Marge, by his side, Dad passed away on March 11, 2012. Eric and Marge enjoyed living the majority of their lives in Steep Rock raising their three children, Karla, Russ (Patti), and Lesley (Leif). His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Shane, Randi (Evan), Kyle, Michaela, Ashley, Dejah and Brayden. Eric spent his younger years working in mines and commercial fishing on the Great Slave Lake. In 1953, Dad started working for Lafarge Canada until his retirement in 1989. Never one to sit still, he opened a business in Ashern. When Mom retired, Dad sold the business so the two could travel, mainly to see the kids! Boating, snowmobiling, flying his plane, and driving around town with his best pal Shadow were some of Dad's favourite pastimes. His family, his friends and helping others were his passion. A celebration of Eric's life will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation, Manitoba Branch, 730 Taylor Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8.
