PATRICIA BEAN

PATRICIA VERONICA BEAN (nee HEWITT) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother and Nanna on Sunday, March 25, 2012, at the Concordia Hospital with her family by her side. Mom has now left us to be with her Lord. Mom was predeceased by her husband Al, parents Gertrude and Jack Hewitt, and sisters Mary Keelan and Joan Sutherland. Leaving to cherish her memory are her children: Trish (Rob) Cantafio, Bob (Laura) Bean, Barb (Walt) Lysack, Mary Ellen (Gary) White, and Gary Bean. She is also survived by her grandchildren Connor and Haley Bean and Liam Cantafio. Mom will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours in whose lives she touched. Mom was born in Toronto and moved to Winnipeg in 1935. She attended St. Ignatius, St. Mary's Academy and received her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba. She married William Alexander Bean (Al) and together they raised five children. Mom enjoyed her summers by her pool with her family as well as gardening and golfing. She also enjoyed vacationing in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Her children have inherited her life-long affection of dogs. Mom treasured her family and will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren in whose lives she was deeply involved. Mom was a strong woman and loved her independence. Her determination was an inspiration to her family. Mom was a devout Catholic and took an active role in St. John Brebeuf Church and School. She also dedicated her time and efforts to the Sisters of the Precious Blood, Meals on Wheels and was a committed blood donor for many years. Others near and dear to Mom were St. Amant Rossbrook House, Agape Table, Osborne House, Siloam Mission, Jocelyn House, Missionaries of Charity (Mother Theresa) and the Good Shepherd Refuge in Toronto. The family would like to thank the staff at the Hospiten Bavaro in the Dominican Republic where Mom fell ill, especially Dr. Juan Romero and Angie Dalmas, and Trinity Air Ambulance. We would also like to thank Dr. Ralph Macek and the nursing staff in the Intensive Care Unit at the Concordia Hospital for their compassion and guidance in our time of need. Funeral mass will take place on Friday, March 30, at 10:30 a.m., at St. John Brebeuf Parish Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place with Father Michael Koryluk and Father Mark Tarrant as the Celebrants. Interment will immediately follow at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory to a charity of your choice. A Mother is one who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take. We love you Mom. We love you Nanna.
