GEORGE ALEXANDER SANTE It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of George Alexander Sante on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the age of 89 years, at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. George was born in the Transcona area of Winnipeg on July 27, 1922. He was stationed in Debert, Nova Scotia, and served as an army cook during the Second World War. George married his wife, Alma, on September 7, 1946, in Truro, Nova Scotia, and he spent most of his career working for C.N. and later Via Rail in Winnipeg until his retirement in 1985, after 44 years of service. George enjoyed gardening and playing golf, and he was very involved in the Red, White, and Blue Railroaders ten pin bowling league which he co-founded in 1965. He held several positions within the bowling league and received numerous accolades including induction into the Bowling Hall of Fame of Manitoba and special recognition from the American Bowling Congress. George was predeceased by his parents Augusta and George Sante, and wife Alma, of 63 years. He is survived by son Les (Donna) of Winnipeg; daughter Cheryl (John) of Bissett; four grandchildren: Terri of Winnipeg and Scott, Laura (Troy), and Trevor of Bissett; and sisters Florence and Hilda of Winnipeg. As a father, grandfather, and brother, George will be sincerely missed, but we will take comfort in the memories we have of him that will stay with us forever. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
