



PHILIP HOURIE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Philip Hourie on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, with his friend by his side at Portage General Hospital at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his parents; Andrew and Elisabeth, brothers; John, Allen, Alfred, Charlie, Elmer, Andrew and Richard and sisters; Mary, Myrtle, Jennie, and Doris. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Philip was born on December 23, 1919. He joined the army in 1939, and was sent to Europe to serve in the war where he received the Medals of the Star of Italy, Germany and France. Upon his return in 1945, Philip worked at numerous jobs including the city and construction. He was a member of Gen. Sir Sam Steel Legion where he attended to one of his great loves.dancing. Philip also enjoyed meeting friends for regular breakfast dates as well as car rides out for coffee. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11 at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg. Special thanks to Iona who went to great lengths to assure Philips comfort and care in his last years and also to Lions Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie.
