JOSEPH BAKO On June 3, 2012, Joe Bako passed away at the age of 86, surrounded by his family. Despite the hardships growing up in Hungary, three and a half years in a Russian prison camp, and numerous health problems over the years, Joe loved and appreciated life. He enjoyed the simple things - gardening, great friends, sharing a good meal, wine and most of all, his family. Joe is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sheila, and his daughter, Lisa, and her husband, Mike. In later years, the main joy in Joe's life were his two grandchildren, Sophia and Aidan. Joe was one of seven children, and the last surviving member of his immediate family. He enjoyed regular contact with his niece Marike and nephew Laci in Hungary, and loved keeping up on the news of the rest of the family overseas. His strength, love and devotion to his family are still alive even after his passing. He will be loved and missed forever. His family would like to thank Dr. Prodan, Dr. Aoki and the staff at Health Sciences Centre GD4, as well as the Palliative Care Team at St. Boniface Hospital. The family has also been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from so many wonderful friends. Your kindness will never be forgotten. A private interment has taken place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
