  • Allen and I were the best of friends for many years during junior and senior high school. I well remember enjoying one Friday evening at his home listening to his brand new Simon and Garfunkel album over and over again. We had many great times together back then cruising around in my 1940's era Dodge. Al and I got together the night that my wife Karin delivered our first child in 1970 and raised our glasses a few times with Dave and Cathy Dickie. Allen's father Walter arranged for my first interview with Air Canada Flight Operations which led to a 31 year career with the airline, for which I am grateful. We lost touch when we both moved away from Manitoba, but I did receive periodic reports of his life from Ron or Ken whenever I passed through the Winnipeg airport. Karin and I send our sincere condolences to Carole and all the family.
