KATHERINE STEPCHUK Katherine Stepchuk passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Katherine was born in Ukraine in 1917, immigrated to France in 1938, and then to Canada in 1949. Preceded in death by her parents; siblings; and spouses Stephan and Hryhoriy, she is survived by sons Eugene (Lydia), Zenon (Ulana); grandchildren Roman (Peggy), Ivanka (Michael), Bohdan, Tamara (Michael), Olenka (Chris); great-grandchildren Kaia, Mykola, Adrianka, Natalka, Natusia and Marianka, and many relatives in Ukraine. Katherine was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be greatly missed. The family would like to express its appreciation to Stefa Myhaliuk and Mihai Rosoha of St. Mary's Villa for their help during Katherine's medical emergencies, and a very special thanks to Ihor and Maria Gawrachynsky for looking after Katherine for so many years. Panakhyda will be sung 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 17 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 820 Burrows Ave. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, also at the Cathedral. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral or Plast, Ukrainian Scouting Organization, are preferred.
