JOHN MALCOLM

JOHN ALEXANDER MALCOLM 1921 - 2012 Peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, with his family by his side, John (Johnnie) Malcolm passed away at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 90 years. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy and his son Gary. He is survived by his son David (Louise), daughter Joan (Karl), daughter-in-law Lenora, his grandchildren Bruce (Lisa), Bryan, Adrien (Chris), Crystal (Scott), Tanya (Graham), Giselle, Jasmine and nine great-grandchildren. Johnnie was born in Oxbow, Saskatchewan, met and married Dorothy (New Brunswick) moved to Rocanville, started their family and a year later moved to Winnipeg which became their home. Johnnie worked for Winnipeg Hydro where he stayed until retirement in 1985. Johnnie (Pops) loved his photography, CB's and Ham Radios, but mostly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also was actively involved with the Mason's (Winnipeg) for many years. A memorial service will take place, Monday, June 18, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Masonic Foundation, 420 Corydon Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0N8 or charity of your choice.   • I have known John only since 2009. He was introduced to me through my parents Heinz and Carol Fleischmann. In the 3 years since, John's enthusiasm and smile made some of my sadder days happier. He helped me out when I needed help by employing me to plant a perennial garden at the front of his home. He often would invite me to have dinner with him at his favorite Salisbury House. We usually would talk about photography or computers or cell phones. He was always interested in new technology. I actually bought my first Nikon from John. We had this common interest. I had bowled a few times together with John and my parents. John made it to my art exhibition night with camera. I will miss seeing him on Facebook and his sense of humor. We lost a good friend. Rest in peace John.

  • Worshipful Brother was the Worshipful Master of Gateway Lodge No 171 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in 1982. He served his Masonic Lodge with passion and gained the respect of his Brethren for his good works
