LARSEN BRUNEL

LARSEN MORRIS BRUNEL Following a long and hard battle where he never gave up and never quit fighting, and showed all who knew him the meaning of courage, the bravest little boy that we know, Larsen Morris Brunel passed away surrounded by the love and prayers of his family on June 21, 2012, at the age of two years. Larsen Morris Brunel was born to his eagerly awaiting parents Robert and Erin (Immerkar) Brunel and big sister Myley on October 16, 2009. Larsen was a big strong boy right from the day he was born. With his white blonde hair, sparkling blue eyes and quiet nature he captured the hearts of everyone who met him. Larsen was an overachiever from birth, rolling at three months, eating solids at five months, walking at nine months. Keeping up with his big sister was always a priority; she was someone he adored greatly. For such a young boy, he did many things in his short time here. In the early days and weeks, he made many trips to Swan River to visit his Nana and Papa, and Auntie Kristin and Uncle Ryan. He travelled to Winnipeg numerous times. Larsen also loved attending fairs and rodeos. As a family we travelled to Toronto to visit Auntie Jennifer and Uncle Geoff and from there flew east to Nova Scotia for a family vacation. Larsen was an amazing traveler. He and his sister enjoyed a van ride to Calgary to visit Uncle Warren. They were so excited to go that there were very few are we there yets? Larsen also enjoyed spending time at Mere and Pere's playing hide and seek in their back yard. Most of all Larsen loved to ride in the tractor, combine and semi with Daddy. He spent hours on end just enjoying being Daddy's little helper. When he wasn't outdoors, playing with Myley or farming with Daddy, he was cuddling with Mommy and playing with her hair. Larsen was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on August 7, 2011. It was a difficult time but we kept our chins up and carried on. Larsen was the strongest boy during his entire illness. He never complained about the numerous pokes, blood work, x-rays and trips to day surgery that he endured daily and weekly. He became a favorite patient very early on to the Childlife specialists, nurses at CancerCare and on CK5 and to the doctors. He loved to tease and squirt them with water whenever possible. His other favorite activity at CancerCare was to sit and watch Hubert the Clown do magic, blow bubbles and draw on his arm. Larsen will always be remembered as a happy, loving little boy that had many passions and loved his family dearly. He always looked out for his big sister no matter what. Larsen leaves to mourn his memory and cherish many fond memories; his parents Robert and Erin (Immerkar) Brunel, his sister Myley Brunel, his grandparents Ejnar and Evelyn Immerkar and Paul and Elvier Brunel, his aunts and uncles and cousins Ryan, Kristin and Isabella Immerkar, Warren Immerkar and Jennifer (Brunel), Geoff and Joshua Baker and his great-grandmother Germaine Brunel along with numerous extended family members and many friends. A Remembering Party for Larsen began with prayers on Monday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church, Ste. Rose du Lac. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. from the church. The service began with the singing of one of Larsen's favorite songs O Canada, followed by a eulogy given by his dad Robert and a video tribute to Larsen. Fr. Vincent de Paul Tchaoule and fellow priests celebrated the mass with the interment following in the Ste. Rose Cemetery. Should friends wish to honour Larsen's memory, donations may be made in his memory to Childlife Specialist at CK5 Children's Hospital c/o the Children's Hospital Foundation, CE501 840 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, R3A 1S1 or to the Dream Factory Manitoba, 303 1 Wesley Avenue, Winnipeg, R3A 4C6. Robert, Erin and Myley invite everyone to join them for Larsen's Remembering Party where we will pay tribute and remember with love this beautiful little boy. All are invited to join the family for prayers which will be offered on Monday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church, Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 26, at 2:00 p.m. where we again invite everyone to join the family. The eulogy and a video tribute will be given prior to the service at 1:50 p.m.. There will be a sound system set up outside the church for those who are unable to join us inside once the church is full. Please bring a lawn chair or whatever you need to be comfortable. Interment will follow in the Ste. Rose Cemetery and a reception and time of fellowship will follow at the Ste. Rose Community Centre. Flowers are gratefully declined.   • I felt so sad when I heard the news about Larsen about a couple of days ago. Deserie and myself were shocked because Larsen has been a good friend with Josh. He seems to be the only kid in CancerCare that Josh knows and is always looking to see. I am very sorry for your loss. I know Larsen is in good hands already. My prayers for your family for strength and endurance.

  • My heart is with your family. I feel your pain because I am going thru the same. Larsen just followed his big sister Jelena (from the hospital) for the last time (she passed away on June 13th). I am sure that our two angels are together, happy, and looking over us. I pray to God to give us strenght of our two little heroes to go thru this. God bless you.

  • Would like to send my condolences to the LARSEN BRUNEL FAMILY. You must be so tired. At least part of the journey will get better for Larsen. He's gone to a place where there is no more pain, no more surgery. or needles, etc. only clowns, friends, He was a very brave child who endured too much pain for some so young.   • I have been following Larsen's journey through Sherry for some time now and was heartbroken to hear of your loss. I myself lost my little brother to cancer some years ago and share in your pain. I wish that I could offer some words of wisdom or some magic phrase that would take away your pain but that is not possible....instead please know that Larsen will always be with you, his short time on earth has made you all who you are and taught you more than you will ever know! He is an angel that will forever watch over you! God Bless you all!

  • I am so sorry to hear of your incredible loss. He was and is such an amazing little boy, who will remain in your life in a whole new way now. It just doesn't make sense... I'm sure that is all you can think as well. No words are of comfort at a time like this but I just can pray for small doses of peace for your family. I will think of Larsen everytime I see a child swirling their mother's hair, smile, and remember just how precious life is. He has given us all that gift..... Held for a moment, Loved forever.

  • I heard of Larsen's journey through a work colleague, and feel so so sad at the loss of such a young heart and young life. He probably lived his short life with much more soul and goodness than many others who will continue to live much longer lives. It will always make me wonder what life is all about.   • I was so touched by Larsen's story and prayed for your wee guy. My Mom, Helen Prieston, kept me I formed.   • Our words are not adequate to express the sorrow we feel for your loss. Your son was an inspiration to everyone around him. We feel so blessed that you shared Larsen’s journey with all of us and Rylan. Every bit of our hearts go out to you during this most difficult time. We think of you everyday and your little angel. Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe. We know that Larsen’s journey had reason, maybe not one we understand now, but have the faith that all children taken too soon are angels above for the family that loves and misses them and for all those still battling.

  • We certainly were devastated to hear of Larsen's passing and are just so sorry for you kids and your families. We remember Myley and Larsen coming out to our pool and just how cute they were and will continue to be in our memories. We hope that Larsen and the families had an enjoyable time at Disney World and took home many more memories of your little fighter. Our thoughts and prayers are with now as they were during Larsen's battle and the loss of your home. Try to keep strong for Myley....she really needs you now and be strong for each other as well.
