  • I first met Ernie at meeting of the Sun Parlour Amateur Radio Club in Leamington, Ontario, his home town, back in the 1990s. Ernie had recently obtained his federal amateur radio license and was talking to people far and wide. We became good friends and that friendship and contact continue even after his big move to "Winterpeg" as he called it. There was a slight hint of envy in his voice when he would talk with me in early spring when the temps were a tad cold and snow was still on the ground in his new neighbourhood while I was already planting flowers in the garden down here in southern Ontario. I will miss having contact with him and the almost hourly e-mails full of jokes, his thoughts on politics and the direction that this country has been heading. Certainly no fan of the Reform, err, Conservative Party and Prime Minister Harper. All the best to his wife and family. The amateur radio community here in the "Sun Parlour" have lost a great friend.
