JUDITH LORRAINE SAWATZKY (nee ENNS) November 12, 1939 - June 29, 2012 Friday, June 29, 2012 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Judith Sawatzky of Schanzenfeld MB, formerly of Winkler, suddenly and unexpectedly went to her eternal home. Judith was an exceptionally active Member of her community, church and related organizations and incredibly supportive of her family and friends. She was a proud promoter of the City of Winkler! She was often a tour guide for visitors to the area. She was a dedicated member of the Chamber of Commerce, serving on the executive in Winkler and the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce. In April, 2012 she was given the Lifetime Service Award from the Manitoba Chambers. Judy helped found the Figure Skating Program in Winkler,was a 4-H leader in Winkler 4H Trailblazers, acted as Parade Marshall for the Winkler Harvest Festival and until now, sat as co-chair of the Winkler Arts Council. She was a Director of Pembina Valley Development Corporation and worked tirelessly to promote tourism and trade in the Pembina Valley. As a Christian believer, Judy's faith was unflappable and she directed her energies to serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Librarian and in the Pioneer Girls Program. She was a Director for the Mennonite Central Committee for Manitoba and was current Vice Chairperson on the governing board of the Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church. Judith Sawatzky was beyond giving and faithful, a creative soul. Trained as a teacher she taught for some 20 years. Her skill and interest in art and painting was the primary focus of her role as an educator. The influence she had on her students was far reaching as she taught them to appreciate beauty and to see art in all things. After leaving teaching she a travel agency business and for the past 25 years has operated Network Travel in her beloved town of Winkler. We will remember Judy as a Painter, Photographer ,lover of all things artistic and an enthusiastic participant of life. Judy loved her Family! In addition to the demanding role of motherhood, she also embraced the role of primary caregiver to her parents, George and Agnes Enns until they passed on several years ago. Judy is survived by her husband Dan of Schanzenfeld with whom she shared the celebration of their 50th Wedding Anniversary last August. Her pride and joy were her children, daughter Donna Hall of Grunthal Manitoba, and son Marcus Sawatzky along with his life partner, Brigette Allec of Victoria, BC. She is survived by her siblings, Don Enns and Kathy of Winnipeg and family, Norma and John Pauls of Guelph, Ontario and family, Merle and Vic Huebner of Dobbs Ferry New York and family, Wayne Enns and Elaine and family of Winnipeg and David Enns and Ray of Libau, Manitoba and family.
