SHIRLEY LIANE DARTNELL (nee WATRIN) November 18, 1923 - July 8, 2012 It is with sadness we announce the passing of Shirley. She left us peacefully while residing at Oak Bay Lodge, Victoria, BC which had been her home for the last several years. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Benjamin Edward Dartnell. She is survived by her children Bill (Helen), Paul (Shelley), Kris (Steve), Liane (Aurele) and grandchildren Andy, Brian, Peter, David, Jon, Carling, Ben and Jack. In addition Shirley will be missed by her long time friend Christine Dartnell of Winnipeg. Shirley was born and grew up in Southern Alberta. In the 1940s she joined and served in the C.W.A.C., met and married Benny and started her family. Her C.W.A.C. connections were very important to her in later life. Shirley's life revolved around her family, friends and many other interests. The majority of her family life was spent in Winnipeg raising her children. Eventually, she moved to Calgary and then to Tsawwassen and Victoria where she spent many years enjoying her grandchildren and friends. While in Oak Bay she enjoyed doing the girl stuff with her only granddaughter, Carling. We wish to express our deepest thanks to the staff of Oak Bay Lodge for the loving care they provided to Mom. If friends desire, a contribution in Shirley's name may be made to Oak Bay Lodge, 2251 Cadboro Bay Road, Victoria, BC V8R 5H3. A private memorial will held at a later date.
