



CHARLES WISHNOWSKI Peacefully, on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the Gimli Community Health Centre, Charles Wishnowski, aged 90 years, of Fraserwood, MB. He was predeceased by his wife Anna; father John; mother Mary and 10 siblings. He is survived by his stepsons Lawrence (Margaret), Peter (Elizabeth) and John. Also survived by three sisters Tanya, Stella, Nettie and many nieces, nephews and stepgrandchildren. As a younger man he made his living doing farm work in the area, carpentry and trapping. He enlisted in the army in 1942, serving at Debert, Nova Scotia; Shilo, Manitoba and Victoria, BC he was discharged in 1945 with the rank of Private. He also worked for the Province of Manitoba Highways department, as an equipment operator for 22 years, retiring in 1985. After his retirement, while still in good health, he enjoyed many years of mushroom picking, bingo and fishing with his wife Anna. He gave up hunting shortly after his retirement and enjoyed feeding the deer that came to his yard. When his wife fell ill in 2003, he spent everyday visiting her at Tudor House in Selkirk and Betel in Gimli until her death in 2009. From that time until his death, he spent his time at his home, enjoying visits from family, friends and neighbour Don Hrehoruk who kept an eye out for him. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012, in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, Manitoba, at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow in the Fraserwood Community Cemetery. His pallbearers will be Rodney Dembowski, Curtis Dembowski, Don Hrehoruk, Gerry Kmet, Len Welchinski and Peter Klym. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
