GORDON MARCY WISEMAN B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D, D.Sc. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Marcy Wiseman on April 27th, 2012 of the Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home as the result of a stroke. He was laid to rest on April 29th at the Bnay Abraham Cemetery. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Arlene Wiseman of Tuxedo Villa, sister-in-law Maimie Shumsky and many friends. The Wisemans had been long time residents of Vialoux Drive, Charleswood. Gordon was born in Winnipeg on February 24th, 1934 and received his early education in East Kildonan. While attending the University of Manitoba he met Arlene. They wed on December 29th, 1956 and were happily married for 55 years. Shortly after Gordon received his M.Sc. in Bacteriology (1961) he and Arlene travelled to Scotland where Gordon earned a Ph.D. in Bacteriology from the University of Edinburgh (1963). He was awarded a D.Sc. from Edinburgh in 1974. Gordon received many scholarships and awards including U of M Graduate Students Association Professor of the Year award in 1975. He taught Medical Microbiology in the Faculty of Medicine from 1965 to 1990, retiring as Senior Scholar . He was a noted researcher and authored many articles. Gordon will be remembered as a kind and gentle man well liked by all who knew him. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Lodge and Tuxedo Villa for the excellent care they gave Gordon over the last two years.
