MARIA CENEDESE

MARIA CENEDESE Peacefully on July 11, 2012 at Health Sciences Centre, Maria Cenedese passed away at the age of 84 years. Maria leaves to mourn her passing her son Frank (Lisa), grandson Justin, son Zoltan (Lesley), grandson Jesse (Theresa), granddaughter Jennifer (Ash), great- grandchildren Rowen, Sawyer, Harper, and Victoria. She was predeceased by her husband Orlando Cenedese and her infant son Joseph. Maria was born in Hungary in 1928, the youngest of six children. In 1956 she fled during the Hungarian Revolution to arrive in Winnipeg with the clothes on her back, a fork, spoon and her five year old son. She married Orlando and raised two more sons. Maria was very outgoing, friendly and generous. Later in life retired to Arlington Haus where she was welcomed by her extended family and became a member of the lobby gang . She always knew the right thing to say to lift anyone sprits and never lost her faith in God or people. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and loved her. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street, visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.   • Maria was like a 2nd mother to me. I enjoyed many meals at her table as a boy & will never forget her kindness & generosity. She remains an inspiration & I'm grateful to have known her. My sincere condolences to Frank, Zoltan & the entire family.

  • Maria's kindness and generosity will be remembered. Dining at Maria's was truly a culinary delight. She had the shrewd ability to assess people and situations, then drill down to the facts in order to arrive at her conclusions. Our last few encounters were especially memorable as we updated each other on family matters. Our world has one less angel among us. Heartfelt sympathy to Maria's sons and their families.
