DORIS BENSON

DORIS ANNIE BENSON 1919 - 2012 Peacefully on July 5, 2012, at Poseidon Care Centre, Doris passed away at the age of 92 years. Doris was predeceased by her loving husband Peter and is survived by her son Gordon (Maureen), her daughter Lynn (Rick), her grandchildren Kim (Nathan), Christine (Jason), Adrienne (Noel), Jennifer (Rick), Ryan (Laura) and great-grandchildren Alex, Evan and Jake. Doris was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Doris loved to travel with Peter and several friends to numerous locations in the United States, a favorite of which was Hawaii. Cremation has taken place and at Doris's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made CancerCare Manitoba in her memory.   • Although we were some 27 years apart we shared a lot. The roller rink on Portage and Langside, where she meet her soul mate, I used to go there every Saturday (never met anyone} For a time in Doris' life she lived where I did, went with her aunt and uncle to the Corona Theater, Roberts drug store, the chip shop, and Cecil Rhodes school (the same homeroom in the basement as I had (different times) We shared so many things, travel, crafts, family, read and exchanged the same books. Doris was a very loving, warm,person with a positive attitude. I never tired of hearing her adventures and every weekend I spent with her was like coming home. My thanks to her children for letting me be a part of her life. Doris will always remain in my heart.
