

JOHN CHARLES CHAPMAN John died peacefully on July 12, 2012. John will be loved forever and missed greatly by the love of his life, Kathy. He is also survived by his stepchildren Daniel and Corey Olson, and son Jeffrey Chapman as well as his ten siblings: Bev (Peter) Moss, Linda (Brian) Shopka, Judy Hossack, Rob (Barb) Chapman, Wendy Thomson, Susan Ollinger (Richard), Debbie (Mitch) Eden, Michael Chapman, Kerry Hill (Dean Fontaine), Tracey (Mike) McGill; his in-laws, Mabel Stewart, Andrew (Allyson) Stewart, Matthew Stewart, Susan (Robert) Voesenek, as well as his many nieces and nephews. John was born in Winnipeg, January 22, 1953. He grew up in St. James attending St. James Collegiate and received his Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Manitoba in 1975. John attained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1977 joining the firm of KPMG. John went on to become a partner with KPMG in Portage la Prairie. When KPMG closed its smaller offices John and his partner Henry Riendeau opened their own practice CHAPMAN RIENDEAU. Mark Verwey joined the partnership in 1995 when Henry retired and they became CHAPMAN VERWEY. Then in 2002 they merged with Galloway Lapchuk Nicoll to become BDO CANADA LLP. A Celebration of John's Life will take place on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the William Glesby Centre (11 2nd Street NE in Portage la Prairie, MB). Viewing will take place at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel (56 Royal Rd. South) on Monday, July 23, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Memorial donations in memory of John may be made to Central Plains CancerCare in support of the 2013 Central Plains Challenge Walk, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8, or the Community Foundation of Portage and District Inc., P.O. Box 1153, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3J9, or to a charity of one's choice.
