ROBERT STEIN It is with extreme sorrow we announce the peaceful passing, at Selkirk General Hospital, of my dear husband Bob on July 19, 2012. Following a feisty battle with recent physical ailments he accepted these health difficulties with his well-known brevity and fearless soul. He is survived by his loving wife Audrey, his siblings Rodney, Don (aka Doc) (Pat), Shirley, brother and sisters-in-law Linda, Don (Loreen), and several nieces and nephews, four children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Shirley, mother and father and two brothers. Bob leaves behind many friends and neighbours who enjoyed his laughter and kindness. Eight years ago Bob and Audrey purchased their dream property in Petersfield, Manitoba. They enjoyed these years gardening, and building their dream home. Bob was famously known for his regular seasonal parties, where he and Audrey had far too many options of delightful appetizers and excellent food. Bob was an animal lover, he and Audrey adopted seven cats from rescue shelters and these were his babies . While living in Petersfield Bob acquired many animal friends, he sat quietly awaiting the deer at night he fed regularly in his yard. Bob was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion in both St. James and Prince Edward. He also enjoyed broomball and curling. For the greater part of his life he worked for Anixter wire and cable as one of their top salesmen. Following retirement he enjoyed the customer interaction and satisfaction of working part time at Home Hardware. Prior to Bob's decline in health he was known to several friends and family's children as a best friend and buddy. He always had a laugh, a smile and a joke, not to mention a movie to borrow out of his collection of 100s. He had one particular friend Dimitri with whom he watched hundreds of movies and ate greasy popcorn and junk food, Zachary and Joshua were his campground pals and surrogate grandchildren, and their parents Kim and Joe provided endless support. There are countless people to thank, from EMS, to staff at Selkirk General Hospital (Dr. Caldez, Dr. Matter, Dr. Stein). Bob had his favourite nurse and neighbour Loraine, her husband Maurice and her daughter whom he called his personal doctor Dr. Nicole Agnew, Health Sciences Centre staff in ICU and B3, Teulon Hospital, and all of the other wonderful healthcare providers. Many close neighbours, particularly Andy and Dessa. An irreplaceable man who was selfless in all areas of his life, Bob will be sadly missed (as will his 4000 plus Christmas lights). He had a smile for all and a kindness not often seen. Thank you Robert and God rest your soul. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Petersfield Hall in Petersfield, Manitoba.
