JULIETA AGUADERA SUGAYAN November 20, 1928 - July 25, 2012 After a brief illness, Julieta Aguadera Sugayan passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg on July 25, 2012. Julieta was born in New Lucena, Iloilo, Philippines on November 28, 1928, and immigrated to Canada in 1989, to join her daughter and sister in Winnipeg. Julieta's memory will will be forever cherished by her daughter Alda (Tante) Ruiz, adopted son Antonio (Leonie Emmie) Pontecostes in the Philippines; sister Remedios Shotropa; grandchildren Amanda, Michael, Neal, Mark, John and Justin; nieces and nephews in New Zealand and Philippines and many honourary children and grandchildren she became a mother figure to. Julieta was predeceased by her husband Benigno; parents Dionisio and Natividad; sisters Juliana and Clarita and her brother-in-law Alexander. Julieta had a presence and a smile that could brighten a dark room. Full of life and energy, taking the transit bus even in the cold Winnipeg winter weather, downtown Winnipeg was her daily destination to shop, meet with friends, and to go to church. Her Catholic faith and her church, St. Mary's Cathedral was of the utmost importance to her. As one of the head ushers at St. Mary's, she developed lifelong friendships with fellow church community members. Although Julieta, Nanay had only one daughter, her motherly love extended out to many. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of 8A at St. Boniface Hospital, her homecare workers, her personal private nurse Brenda, and numerous friends and family, for all their support, love and prayers through this very trying time. Lamay will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, on Sunday, July 29, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. to midnight. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, 353 St. Mary's Avenue, with Rev. Fr. Dado Parrenas officiating. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens and a reception to follow. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca
