CHRISTIE SILVERSIDES

CHRISTIE MITCHELL SILVERSIDES January 25, 1920 July 18, 2012 Born Christie Mitchell Kinread in Winnipeg in 1920, she was the youngest child of Robert R. Kinread and Edith L. Mitchell. She graduated from Winnipeg Normal School and taught elementary school for several years. Christie married Frank Silversides in 1944, and they lived in Winnipeg, Toronto, Cornwall, Halifax, Ottawa, Flin Flon, Sault St. Marie and Edmonton before making Saskatoon their home. Predeceased by her husband Prof. Frank Silversides and son Peter Silversides, she is survived by sons Bruce (Sheila) of Winnipeg, Kit (Gail) of Saskatoon, Lee (Sue) of Tiny, ON, Dirk (Bonnie) of Regina, and Brock (Laurel) of Toronto, as well as grandchildren Candace (John) of Toronto, Kit (Tannis) of Winnipeg, and Christie of Toronto, and great-grandchildren Nigel, Ella, Damon, Violet and Nicholas. Christie will be remembered as a kind and generous person with a wonderful sense of humor. She was an accomplished pianist and cook, with a love of theatre, and reading. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Salvation Army.
