JULIAN LOUIS (LOUIE, LOU) LECHMAN February 6, 1929 - July 25, 2012 It is with the deepest sorrow and the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our dearest father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Louie Lechman at the age of 83, on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Debbie Regier, Darlene Scibak, Darrell Lechman, and Derek Lechman (Jackie); his grandchildren: Jason Regier (Jennifer), Jennifer Regier, Justin Regier, Jamin Regier, Jordan Regier, Candace Carnevale (Ben), Charlie Scibak, and Georgia Lechman; his great-grandchildren: Didier Dusablon, Gabriel Dusablon, Kiefer Regier and Katherine Regier; his sisters: Ollie Luchik, Eleanor Freeman and Dorothy MacDonald, and many, many nieces, nephews and friends. Louie was the third youngest of ten children and grew up in the North End of Winnipeg. He never left it except to spend summers at his favourite place in the world, Winnipeg Beach. His children and grandchildren were always first in his life. He never missed a family get together and looked forward to the next one. He was a positive person always seeing the best in everyone and was willing to help everyone any way he could. Lou retired many years ago after working 34 years as a Letter Carrier. While working for Canada Post he was active in the union, holding positions from Secretary to President of the Local. Working for the betterment of others was what Lou strived to do. After his retirement he became more active in his church until health issues forced him to step down from some of his responsibilities. Lou was an active NHL and CFL enthusiast, sharing many momentous sports moments with his son(s) and grandson(s). He was the best father a son or daughter could have, having lost his wife to cancer in 1975. Lou was there for his children and his grandchildren. He actively took part in their lives, celebrating their accomplishments and encouraging them during times of hardship. He never gave up on any one of them and was proud of them all, from the oldest child to the youngest great-grandchild. A celebration of Louie's life will be held at Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Private interment will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Seven Oaks Hospital.
