FLORENCE KOCHE

FLORENCE KOCHE (KUC) Florence Koche, died July 1, 2012, at the Fred Douglas Lodge after a long illness. Florence leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters Anna, Teenie (Antoinette), and Sally, and brother Edward (Adolphe). She was born on December 2, 1926, in Winnipeg to Domecellia and Stephan Kuc. Her working years were spent at the former Eaton's store downtown on Portage Avenue, specifically in the grocery. She told stories of her time there with great pride and a sense of accomplishment and loyalty. She retired in 1980, and moved to Toledo, Ohio, to live with her sister and brother-in-law. But she longed for her lifelong home and came back to Winnipeg in 1981, where she enjoyed her retirement years by participating in her favorite pastimes. Among them were shopping, crocheting, and holding court' with anyone who would listen and join in. A private graveside service has been held at Brookside Cemetery. 586-8044
