- My grandpapa, when he learned I was about to take a trip to New Orleans many years ago, looked at me very excited, and said I had to have Po'Boy. Never having tasted this in the southern United States I asked what it was. He smiled and went on to describe the golden fried shrimp, contrasting crisp lettuce and ripe red tomatoes. I swear his mouth was watering as he described it to me. I will remember that all my life. I had a Po'Boy back then, in fact several, thinking of him every time. Last weekend, only a few days after hearing of my grandpa's passing, my kids and wife "kidnapped" me for for my birthday and we drove from Fort Lauderdale to Key West for the day. Settling in for lunch on Duval Street, on the menu, there it was. A Shrimp P'Boy sandwich. I relished every bite and toasted him on that special day. Merci Grand Papa d'avoir ete une personne d'influence positive dans toutes nos vie, pour la vie. Marc.
