DON GLIMCHER It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Don Glimcher, on August 27, 2012 at the age of 93. Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife of 65 years, Ida, his children Manuel (Cheryl), and Morris and granddaughter Sarah Malka. Don was born is Dubno, Poland. His family was devastated during the Second World War, as he lost his parents and both younger sisters. His older brother Zvi who predeceased Don, moved to Israel. Don met and married his wife Ida in 1947, and together they immigrated to Canada in 1948. Don became a Jewish teacher and taught in Calgary for two years and then at the I.L. Peretz school in Winnipeg for 10 years. He then operated a corner grocery store in Winnipeg's North End. Don was a quiet and generous man, with a very kind heart. He was very proud of his boys, as well as his granddaughter. He was so happy that they were able to come for a visit just a few weeks before his passing. Don and Ida enjoyed their winter vacations to Florida and Hawaii, and remember all of the friends and fun they had there. The family would like to extend its appreciation to Homecare and all of their caring staff, as well as Maria and Manny for their support and compassion. Thanks to the staff at the Simkin Center who supported Don during his short stay there, as well as to the Four South staff at Victoria Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2:00 p.m. at Etz Chayim Synagogue, 123 Matheson Ave., Winnipeg.
