He played well into his seventies and his love for the game continued even when his playing days were over. His fondest memories were of playing with the Winnipeg Club Oldtimers and West K Noon Hour League. He valued the many friendships he made over the years. Dad was involved in the automobile industry for over 66 years. With his father and brother-in-law, he started Eastern Sales in Beausejour in 1946. The business flourished and in 1957 they moved to the present Winnipeg location. Dad remained active in the dealership until the time of his death. Dad was involved in the Manitoba Motor Dealers Association and National Dealer Advisory Council over the years and was a recipient of the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award. He also served on many boards and associations because he believed in giving back to the community. Dad's true vocation was to his family. His greatest joy was having family get togethers and spending winters in Florida with his siblings, children and especially his grandchildren. The family would like to thank Jo Hailemariam, Dad's homecare worker, the Palliative Care nurses, and especially Dr. Kevin Saunders, for their care and compassion. Prayers will take place on Friday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, Munroe and Brazier. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 22 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church. Private family interment will follow at a later time. Pallbearers will be his eight children. Honorary pallbearers will be his 21 grandchildren.
