HERMAN FINDLAY MORRISSEAU February 23, 1957 - February 26, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Herman Findlay Morrisseau after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by his family he slipped away three days after his 56th birthday at the Selkirk & District General Hospital. Forever missing him is his partner Mary Ross; beloved mother Lillian Morrisseau; sons Darren and Darryl; daughters Brandy and Stacey; brothers and sisters Stanford Jr., Darlene (Jarvis), Gloria (Lorne), Yvonne (Monty), Velma (Chuck), Maureen (Dennis) and Leslie (Kerry). Also left to mourn are his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, in-laws, aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to mention. Herman is predeceased by his father Stanford, his auntie Helen, uncles Stanley Arthurson, Leslie Arthurson, maternal grandparents Arthur and Susan Arthurson, paternal grandparents Madeline and Joseph Morrisseau, auntie Mary Arthurson, cousins Clarisse Lavallee and Gerald Karol. Herman was born at Matheson Island on February 23, 1957 where he grew up until the family moved to Selkirk in 1969. At a young age Herman worked at many different jobs such as white-fishing and mining but it was the construction industry that attracted him and he spent many years working for Nelson River Construction before going to Hazco where he spent the last 13 years. His work took him on the road a lot but he called Winnipeg his home. Herman had a special love for children and was never shy about expressing it and children loved him in return. He was a hard working, devoted family man and he always made a point of connecting with his family members. He had a deep belief in the importance of family and demonstrated his love and respect for his aunts and uncles and other family members. Compassionate and generous to a fault Herman touched all the people he met. When Herman became ill, he never complained and faced his illness with great courage and dignity. He will be sadly missed. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 1 at 3:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel with Archdeacon Godfrey Mawejje officiating. A viewing to be held one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the St. Clement's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darren Morrisseau, Darryl Morrisseau, Leslie Morrisseau, Clinton Morrisseau, Christopher Morrisseau, Regan Olafson. Honorary pallbearers are all the good friends he made during his lifetime, and there were many. The family would like to thank all those who supported us during our difficult time, all those who brought food, those who just sat and held our hands and those who spent hours with us at the hospital. The family would also like to thank the Nurses and Doctors at the Selkirk & District General Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
