RICHARD LAWRENCE CORMACK CD It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend on March 3, 2013. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joyce, sister Doreen Cormack, children Rick, Norman (Suzy) and Lorraine (Reg) Morris, stepdaughter Katharine (Jason) Hasz, grand-children Ian and Evan Cormack, Glenn, Elizabeth and Jasmin Morris, Keanna and Bodey Hasz, great-grandchildren Ethan and Layla Gammon and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents David and Willamina and his brother David Cormack. Lawrence was born in Moosomin, SK on July 21, 1928 and moved to Aberdeen Scotland in 1932 where he lived until he was discharged by the Gordon Highlanders. In 1948 he immigrated to Toronto with his future bride Mary Davidson of Aberdeen where they raised their family. He had a 33 year distinguished career with Scarborough Board of Education. Upon retiring in 1988 he moved to Dryden, ON to be closer to his mother, sister and brother. While there he became involved with Toastmasters and continued his involvement with the Masonic Temple. With the help and encouragement of his family he was instrumental in forming the Dryden Scottish Dancers. It was through this association that he met dancers from Winnipeg and his future wife Joyce. After their marriage, he joined Joyce in Winnipeg and so began his involvement with many organizations. He's a proud retired member of the 48th Highlanders of Canada (rank of Sargeant), current board member of the St. Andrews Society of Winnipeg, current president of the Winnipeg Robert Burns Club, board member of Melrose Camp Sons of Scotland, director of the Scottish Heritage Council of Manitoba, co-chair of the Tartan Day committee, past member of RSCDS and Toastmasters and lifetime member of the Masonic Temple. We sincerely thank Dr. Gingerich and nurse Cheryl Greaves (CancerCare) for their loving care and treatment over the past number of years. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. A service will be held on Tuesday (TODAY), March 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons Street. DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
