JACQUES ALEXANDRE CLEMENT LARIVIERE Died Saturday, February 8, 2014 Born in St. Boniface MB, May 20, 1934 Jacques Alexandre Clément LaRivière passed away peacefully Saturday, at the age of 79, at the Ottawa General Hospital. At his bedside were his beloved wife of 53 years, Louise (nee Radakir), his children Danielle, Alain, Andrée, her fiancé Steven and his granddaughters Catherine and Valerie LaRivière, niece Joanne Henry and great nephew Michael-Alan. He will be missed by his sister Suzanne Pelletier (Pierre) of Winnipeg, MB and by his extended family and numerous friends and neighbours. The son of the late Louis A.C. and Ida (Provost) LaRivière, he was a graduate of the Collège de St-Boniface, and a born communicator whose career included radio (CKSB) and television broadcasting with CBC-TV, public relations with Towers Perrin, Domtar, Canadian Breweries, PIR Ltd, the Canadian Tobacco Manufacturers Council and a past presidency of the Canadian Public Relations Society. He was also an exemplary civic leader whose dedication, integrity, loyalty and generous spirit touched many lives both in Montreal and Ottawa, serving for nearly the last 20 years as a volunteer and board member of the Friends of the Ottawa Hospital - General Campus. A heartfelt thank you to the volunteers, nurses, Drs. Po and Cardinal and staff at the Ottawa General Hospital. Funeral services will be held at Notre-Dame Basilica, 385 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, ON K1N 5H5 on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held in the spring at Mont-Royal Cemetery in Montreal. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to The Friends of the Ottawa Hospital - General Campus, are deeply appreciated.
