SUSAN MARGARET ALLEN (nee CLIFFORD) Sue Allen, our treasured Mum and Gammie, left us on March 15, 2017 at 85 years young, peacefully in the arms of Andrew, at home after fighting a brave battle from illness. She joins her husband Sid who died in 1977. Mum was educated at Rupert's Land Girls School in Winnipeg then graduated from nursing at the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1953. She practiced in the profession until the age of 72! She leaves many friends and family who she cared about so much, along with her children Rob (Stephanie, Steven, Devlin and Phoenix), Suzie (Alix and Fraser), Andrew, and beloved pet McBride. Mum made great friends through church, sports, volunteering, social clubs and work. She loved her communities in Kerrisdale and the West End since moving to Vancouver in 1976. Mrs. A was a Mum to many. We would like to thank everyone for their great support during this difficult time. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, March 31 at 2:00 p.m., St. Mary's (Kerrisdale) Anglican Church, 2490 W 37th Avenue, Vancouver. Reception to follow. There will be a service in Winnipeg at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted to the BC SPCA, 604 681-7271 - Mum's charity of choice. You will be forever loved and missed and always in our hearts. Walkey & Company Funeral Directors 604 738-0006

  • To Sue's Family, We are sorry to hear Sue has passed. A notice has been included in our most recent issue of The Portal magazine for alumnae. I have been asked by a fellow Rupert's Land alumna for your contact information as she would like to be in touch, and would like information on the Winnipeg service. I hope to hear from you soon and can be reached at With our deepest condolence, Genevieve on behalf of Balmoral Hall School - Posted by: Genevieve Cloutier (Balmoral Hall School Alumnae Relations Office) on: Jul 20, 2017

  • So sorry to hear of Sue's passing. Although we lost close touch touch over the years we were always pleased to connect & get caught up when we met at occasional WGH Alumni Reunions. We attended Rupert's Land at the same time, Sue being 2 years ahead of me, so when I entered the WGH as a Probationer I was thrilled to have Sue as my "big sister." She was always there when I needed her for advice or just moral support. She was a good friend, delightful personality and a wonderful Mother & Grandmother My deepest Sympathy to all the family Pat Matheson - Posted by: Pat (Taylor) Matheson (RLS & WGH) on: Apr 11, 2017
