DOLORES ISOBEL ANDERSON (DOLLY) May 23, 1930 - March 28, 2017 Peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 Dolores Isobel Anderson (nee Smith) reached her final home with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She was born May 23, 1930 in Selkirk, Manitoba living her younger years in Stoney Point and Victoria Beach with 13 siblings. It was at Victoria Beach where she met the man of her dreams, Bertram Anderson. She and Bert were married for 58 years before his passing in 2004. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. The mother of Alice, Esther (Bill, both deceased), Lois (Jeff), Jim (Linda), Jerry (Jo-Anne), Lavona, David (Dale) and Tom (Carolyn), grandmother to 30 and great-grandmother to 36, sister to Errol, Graham (Ada), George (Dale), and sister-in-law to Freda (Matt), Lila, Alec. She was an aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, with a special place in her heart for niece Shirley. Our mother was mainly a stay-at-home mom and with a Christ-like example of caring for whomever came through her door. Feeding, cleaning, nursing, laundry, whatever was needed, she was happy to do. She spent many of her summers cooking at a variety of camps into her late 60s: Faith Bible Camp, Simonhouse Bible Camp and Hilbre Bible Camp to name a few. Almost every new baby in the family was presented with one of Mom's knitted baby outfits and some even received a personal handcrafted shawl. After the youngest was in school she worked at a variety of jobs: making "Hush Puppies" at Grebb Shoes, Care Worker at Central Park Lodge and a cleaning lady for a number of people, and really enjoyed catering alongside her sister Betty (Tita). She was a faithful follower of Christ attending Logan Mission, Grace Chapel, St. James Gospel Chapel and Maples Community Church. She was a very active church member teaching Sunday School, leading women's Bible studies, Compassion ministry teams, kitchen worker and a faithful donor to many missionaries. She also volunteered at Union Gospel Mission. We would be remiss not to mention the special friendship she had with Tina Funk. As a family we can never express enough gratitude for the friend that Tina has been to Mom since Dad's passing. We want to thank the Maples Personal Care Home for their care over the last three years especially "1 West" staff. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. with the funeral on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 with a viewing at 12:00 noon and the service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Maples Community Church, 1640 Leila Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Interment to follow at Balsam Bay, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Bible Camp, 760 Charleswood Road, Winnipeg, MB R3R 1K6.
