ARTHUR EDWIN KIDNER January 11, 1927 - April 26, 2017 On April 26, 2017 our wonderful, tenderhearted dad and grandfather left this world to be with his Heavenly Father. Art leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Janice (Garry) Schellenberg, grandsons Kevin, Kyle (Michele), great-grandchildren Javan, Yana, Atira, many nieces and nephews, and special loving friend Evelyn Perkins. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Maryann Kidner, Edith, his wife of 68 years, sisters Chris, Fran and Jean. Art worked for the CN for 40 years as a carman. He loved to escape to their cottage in the Whiteshell with his family and friends. Later he moved to Pinawa where he enjoyed spending time with his family and making many new friends. He was a dedicated family man whose love and devotion will always be cherished. Art was an enthusiastic gardener and enjoyed sharing his best blooms with others. He loved to bake cookies and often surprised those he cared about with a fresh batch. Art had a strong faith in Jesus and loved to attend church. He made many friends at Abundant Life Baptist Church where he was fondly known as "Uncle Art". A celebration of Art's life will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Buntain Chapel in Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave St., Winnipeg, MB. Pastor Brad Quiring officiating. Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • My sincere condolences to Janice and the rest of the family. Art was one of my first patients as a young doctor in Pinawa and somehow we immediately had a connection. Consultations were, dare I say, really fun with lots of banter and discussions on current events. My apologies for not being able to come to the Celebration of Life. Please know you were in my thoughts as your father will always have a spot in my heart. - Posted by: Henriette Groenewald (Family physician) on: May 12, 2017

  • My deepest sympathy goes out to Janice and her family on the loss of her father. Great memories of Art, Edie and Janice visiting with my family on our farm in Fisher Branch. Cathy Creek (Nowosad) - Posted by: Cathy Creek (Nowosad) (Cousin) on: Apr 29, 2017

  • I had the pleasure of working with this fine man at CN from 1974 until the time Art retired. He was very well liked and respected by his co-workers. I remember Art being so excited to retire to Pinawa that we checked it out on Art's recommendation and retired in Pinawa years later. He and Edie were great ambassadors for our community. - Posted by: Blair Heaps (Former Co-worker and friend) on: Apr 29, 2017

  • Dear Jan, Garry and Family: We're sorry to learn of the loss of your father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather. With respect - Barbara and Carl Sabanski - Posted by: Barbara Sabanski (Friends from Pinawa) on: Apr 29, 2017

  • Art just had a way about him, that helped calm the storms... Edie and Art were my shelter in the storm while I ran an election campaign from their basement many years ago. When it was getting too much, Edie brought out the fresh baking and Art helped me eat it. I think of them both with a smile and I giggle thinking of how Art managed us ladies at stressful times. But my heart smiles when I look through my picture books and see Art waving and smiling back at me as I took the picture at the Pinawa Birthday parade:) I feel fortunate to have shared their time in Pinawa. And I will never forget the friendship we had. My sincerest condolences on Art's passing. - Posted by: Lynn Patterson (Friend) on: Apr 29, 2017
