MARCEL RENAUD September 1, 1925 - April 29, 2017 The family would like to announce the peaceful passing of Marcel Renaud on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his wife Christine of 68 years in 2015 and is survived by his daughters Eileen Meissner (Wayne Wagner), Marlene (Don) Munroe; grandchildren David (Carrie) Munroe, Rick (Laure) Meissner, Darlene Meissner, Andrew (Johanna) Munroe; great-grandchildren Michaela, Paul, Mackenzie, Leia, Winter, Morgan, Colin, Skylar and Caleb; his siblings, John, Stella Mistelbacher, Leo, May Schmidt, Gerry, Rita Carrette, Paul (May), Ida Sedo, and Dick (Janet); sister-in law Carol Mistelbacher; and many nieces and nephews. Marcel was born and raised in St. Boniface where he and Christine raised their two daughters and lived many years of their marriage. At a very early age, he acquired excellent painting skills from his father. Marcel was self-employed and spent many years working on painting and moving jobs. After his retirement, he and Christine moved to an acreage in Grande Pointe where they lived for 25 years where he enjoyed an active, country lifestyle and began his collections of many things from baseball caps to antique cars. Their time in Grande Pointe was interrupted by his illness, where they then moved to an apartment back to his roots in St. Boniface. Patience was the epitome of this kind, gentle, hardworking man; along with a very cheery, friendly personality. His wit and humour were appreciated by all, as he was a jokester; teasing all those around him. There was never a dull moment with Marcel. Everyone has a story to share about Shorty/Uncle Shorty/Marcel/Grandpa/Dad. Marcel enjoyed travelling with family in his motor home and numerous family cruises. He especially enjoyed "puttering" in the machine shed, yard and garage, picking up and piling wood, and picking up beer bottles at the side of the road. He had a love of antique cars and sweets of all kinds. Christine couldn't have had a more devoted, understanding husband. Marlene and Eileen will always cherish their loving, caring and humble dad. Rest in peace Dad/Grandpa. You are in a better place. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the kind, caring and compassionate staff at Action Marguerite for the care of Marcel. Due to his long illness with Alzheimer's, the family has spent many hours visiting and having said their goodbyes many times. He now rests eternally with his loving wife and his dear friends and family who predeceased him. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My memories of dear Uncle Shorty will always be with me. I offer my condolences to "Bunny" & Marlene & all of extended families. He was a good uncle, & will never forget him. - Posted by: Shirley Grantham (Neice) on: May 06, 2017

  • Bunny, Condolences to The family. I remember your dad and mom coming over to our house playing cards and everyone had lots of laughs. Also, one Hallowe'en, they came over all dressed in costumes, and not saying a word, with my parents trying to figure out who they were. - Posted by: Linda Tomlinson (Friend) on: May 04, 2017

  • Deepest sympathy to Bunny and Marlene and their families. I have many memories of visiting Uncle Marce and Aunty Christine as a child and one memory I will always hold close, is the day Uncle Marce took me to the church on my wedding day in his old vintage car. RIP - Posted by: Shelley Purchase (niece) on: May 03, 2017
