LORNA ANDERSON December 4, 1931 - May 9, 2017 Lorna Rose Anne Anderson passed away peacefully on May 9, 2017. Lorna was predeceased by her husband Reg, daughter Tammy, brother Dennis, and sisters Linda and Doreen. Lorna is survived by her son Dean (Laura Leigh), grandchildren Mandy (Kyle), Devin (Alexa) and Skye, great-grandchildren Loki, Ember, Pearl and Odin, brother Lenny, as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In Lorna's younger years she worked as a telephone operator in Eriksdale. A few years later she started working at the Post Office where she worked until she retired. Lorna enjoyed her time at the post office and looked forward to seeing friends in the community when picking up their mail. Lorna was also a long time member of the Legion. She really valued the friendships that she made over the years with other Legion members and helped out wherever she could with community events. When Lorna was diagnosed with cancer she fought to beat the disease. It was when she was diagnosed with cancer the second time that she wanted to do something to help other people. It was one of her proudest moments to do the Walk for Life where she walked from Thunder Bay to Eriksdale to raise money and awareness to fight cancer. Lorna's yard was her pride and joy. In the summer you could see her spending hours planting flowers and working in her yard. In the winter her house lit up the town with all her Christmas lights. The most important moments in Lorna's life was her marriage to Reg, of 60 years, and spending time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her kindness, selflessness, and just the simple love she showed to everyone in her life. I love you Mom. There will never be a day that you will not be in my thoughts. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Eriksdale Recreation Centre with Shirley Russell officiating. Interment to be held in the Eriksdale Municipal Cemetery with a luncheon to follow in the hall. Honorary pallbearers are Kerry Kollman, Bruce McKinnon, Horace Hogue, Jimmy Tkach, Kelvin Lindell, Bo Lindell and Lonnie Eirickson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Room ON1160, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Dear Lorna was an icon in our small town. She could call you a dumb ass in one breath and offer you a Cheese whiz and dill pickle sandwich in the next. Her spirit was forever young and she could tease with the best of them. Let's not forget the only Dress shop I ever remember being in town. I saved my allowance just to buy a cowboy shirt and some Fancy Ass jeans from her specialty shop. She will be forever etched into our young hearts...... - Posted by: Jody (Friend) on: May 17, 2017

  • I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. - Posted by: Loralie Capner () on: May 17, 2017

  • It was one of the hardest calls to receive from Dean on May 9,2017. He had to deliver news that an extraordinary and beautiful person had passed on earlier that morning. Lorna was one of a kind and had a way about her that drew you in, you just had to love her, you couldn't help it, no one could! Lorna will be missed by everyone that she ever met, and we all feel a loss, she always had time for anyone who needed her. Our favourite memories are of the many visits to the place where time did not seem to matter. Lorna and Reg were always gracious hosts, and made it very hard to leave them. We will miss you Lorna, as we love you. Now you can go to be with Reg for all of eternity. WE LOVE LORNA & REG - Posted by: monty plater (nephew) on: May 17, 2017

  • Lorna was friends with my mom, and it was always a highlight when we went into town for the mail. She always included me in any conversation, and it was so natural for her to make others feel cared for, loved, and valued. I always felt that she and her husband, Reg, were earth angels, here for others' benefit. What a beautiful couple to know, and many hugs and much love to her family. I'm so proud to have called her my friend. Enjoy the next step of your journey, dear Lorna! - Posted by: Patricia Thomson (Hanslip) (friend) on: May 16, 2017

  • Lorna....courageous, bold, beautiful smile, warm greetings, unconditional love and positive regard for young and old, Lorna and Reg were like a warm blanket, in their house by the side of the road, where several generations of us came and went day and night! So blessed to have be nurtured by her and part of their circle which will never be broken and lives on in you, her family who she loved so dearly. RIP "deary" - Posted by: Maureen Mckinnon Boyce () on: May 16, 2017

  • May God rest her soul. All the best to the family Lorna and Reg were always very kind and friendly. - Posted by: C Magee () on: May 16, 2017

  • Our families were connected before Lorna & Reg married as my Mom Dorothy was her bridesmaid. A few years later, Lorna & Grama Esther babysat me. In years to come I became friends with Darcy and Dean and spent many days & nights there. Her doors and arms were always open to welcome in and feed and find a couch or bed for every friend that Dean or Darcy dragged in. Lorna was so kind and always had an encouraging word to say. She was my biggest supporter. We've had many stories, jokes and laughs that will live on for years to come. You are dearly missed Lorna ❤️ - Posted by: Barb Blur (Dear friend) on: May 16, 2017
