RALPH DENNIS BAGLEY Loving father to Keith, Dennis, and Nancy, passed away on July 17, 2017. Born January 6, 1928 to Jack and Hazel Bagley, Ralph lived his whole life in Manitoba. Ralph was a Journalist his entire career, having been a sports writer for the Winnipeg Tribune and Winnipeg Free Press, covering Golf, Curling, and Alpine Skiing. While Ralph was covering golf in 1956, he was swept away by his lifelong sweetheart, June (Baker) Bagley, who was a champion golfer. She went from being the object of his articles to the object of his affection. June predeceased Ralph in 2005, and he missed her every day. Ralph is survived by his loving children: Keith (Pam), Dennis (Pat) and Nancy; grandchildren: Camille (Chad), Kendra, Larissa (Joel), Stephanie (Jeff), Matthew and Jessica; great-grandchildren: Payton, Makayla and Finnegan; as well as numerous loving relatives and friends. He had an impact on all he met. Ralph leaves us after a life exceptionally lived. He became a household name in Manitoba as a sports writer covering golf and curling. His participation in Manitoba's golf and curling communities; as editor of the Golf Manitoba Journal, on the selection committee for the Labatt Manitoba Amateur Golfer of the Year Award, as President of the Manitoba and Canadian Curling reporters, just to name a few; earned him recognition in the Media Roll of Honour and the Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame. Ralph shared his passion for life and sports, especially golf, with his children. The family invites you to join us for a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Glendale Golf and Country Club, 400 Augier Ave. in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. www.voyagefuneralhome.com

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Dear Nancy & Family: Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your father. We remember his presence at all golf events, and most of all, his warm smile. - Posted by: Jack & Eff Mason (Friends) on: Jul 26, 2017

  • Some of the best times in my life were spent at the Winnipeg Canoe Club, from the days of Junior Golf with Keith, Dennis, and Nancy in the 1970s, when June was my "summer mom" and Ralph was my "summer dad", through the 1980s and 1990s. It has also been my pleasure to work with Ralph for over 20 years as part of the Grey Owl Golf Tournament committee, which Ralph nominated me to be a member. Ralph was a caring and gentle man, thoughtful and insightful. I will miss him. To my friends Keith, Dennis, and Nancy; keep your memories alive and fresh and your dad will be there with you. - Posted by: John Nordien (Long time friend of the family) on: Jul 25, 2017

  • From the moment I met June & Ralph Bagley I knew that I had found why they had such a great family. They welcomed me with open arms. And Ralph & I had similar interests in golf & curling which made our talks more delightful. I want to express my deepest thank you to Ralph for his guidance & support... I also want to thank him for raising children as good as the parents were. - Posted by: Gord Kerr (past son in law) on: Jul 23, 2017
