BEATRICE HELOISE PICHE February 15, 1926 - July 21, 2017 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Beatrice Heloise Piche, at Poseidon Care Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Friday, July 21, 2017. Bea will be remembered in the hearts of all who knew her, especially her granddaughter Jackie in Toronto; Colin and Cori Dorrian and family; sister-in-law Margaret; many nieces; nephews and cousins; and good friends, Trudy and Thelma. She was predeceased by her parents; sons, Roger and Robert; first husband Orville Wright; husband Maurice Piche; younger brothers, Stanley and Gilbert; as well as sister-in-law, Anne. Bea was born on the farm near Fisher Branch, Manitoba to mother Gratia and father Harry Barlow. This was the age of isolated farms and close families. Both of her parents died when Bea and her brothers were young. Beatrice was raised by her paternal grandparents, Charlie and Grace Barlow on the family farm in the Fisher Branch area. Beatrice attended Maidstone School and received an award for the highest standing in Grades 1, 2 and 3. She moved to the City of Winnipeg at the age of 16 to work. When she turned 18, Bea joined the Canadian Women's Army Corps and went to Ontario for training. She had many fond memories of that time and the friendships made. Life was not always easy for Bea. There were many trials; losing her parents at a young age, losing her first husband in a house fire in Fisher Branch, two sons dying before their time and other circumstances, but Bea remained a resilient and courageous person. There was always a glint of humour in her outlook and love for her family. She lived in many places in Western Canada and had lots of stories about working in a restaurant in downtown Vancouver. She always had compassion for those who had difficult lives. Bea was active in the Royal Canadian Legion as a member for 45 years. She attended the Charleswood Seniors Day Club where she made many friends and really enjoyed the outings and activities. St. Peter's Anglican Church in Winnipeg was a source of strength for Bea. She always said that the best thing she ever did was join that parish. Bea's Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Anglican Church, 755 Elm Street at Grant Avenue. Interment will be held at a later date in Fisherton, Manitoba. Thank you to the ministry team and visitors from St. Peter's for the support for Bea as her health has failed. Thank you as well to Seven Oaks Hospital and Poseidon Care Centre for their respectful and kind care for Bea in the last months of her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice. Wojcik's Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
