ADALHEIDUR (ALLIE) P. PASCOE (nee BENSON) Our beloved mother, amma, sister, aunt and friend, peacefully made her transition from life in body to life in spirit on July 15, 2017. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, A.R. (Art) Pascoe; her parents, Olina and Gisli Benson; her sisters, Benetta and Kristine Benson Kristofferson. She is survived by her sons, Wray and David Pascoe; grandchildren, Michael (Molly), Justin (Christine) and Shauna; great- grandchildren, Felix, Clark and Evelyn Pascoe; and her brother Harvey Benson of Gimli. Allie was born in Gimli in 1916. She met her husband when she worked at the Tergesen Drug Store in Gimli. They were married September 2, 1939 a day before the outbreak of the Second World War. She was President of West Kildonan Home and School Association and served on the Mayors' Advisory Counsel in addition to canvassing for the Red Cross and March of Dimes. She was a member of the Icelandic Unitarian Church Ladies Aid as well as The Icelandic Poetry Club. Her artistic talents resulted in many paintings, drawings and sculptures. She wrote several short stories. One was published in the Icelandic Canadian and another, on her reflections of early Christmas celebrations in Gimli, appeared in Logborg - Heimskringla. We are grateful to the Gimli Homecare staff and staff of Betel Care Home. Special appreciation to Dr. Daniel Chin and Dr. R. P. Haydey of Winnipeg. A celebration of her life will be held in the Johnson Hall on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. Contributions to The Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium, CancerCare Manitoba or the Icelandic National League can be made in her name. Goda Nott Elskan NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I lived 3 doors down on Armstrong Ave. David and Wray were friends and I had lunches that Allie would prepare. Allie was like a mother to me and I was exposed to the Icelandic culture from Allie and uncle Harvey from Gimli who would drive golf balls into Kildonan Park, some made of soap. Mike, living in Kenora. - Posted by: Michael Malley (Neighbour) on: Aug 21, 2017

  • Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. Although we knew her briefly she was an interesting, engaging person who readily shared interesting parts of her life. She was Paulette's mentor regarding her famous vinatarta. We wish you & your family well as you as you go through these difficult times. - Posted by: Robert & Paulette Boulet (friend to Wray) on: Aug 17, 2017

  • Sincere condolences to the family. I remember her as a vital, loving, interesting, and creative, talented woman. This will be a great loss to her community and loved ones. - Posted by: Merika Graham Skirko (former colleague of son ) on: Aug 12, 2017
