FRANK STEVE SENKOW Born: February 26, 1926 Date of Passing: August 11, 2017 Peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2017, Frank passed away with family by his side, at the Arborg and District Personal Care Home at the age of 91. Frank was born in Timmins, ON on February 26, 1926. Frank was predeceased by his loving wife Rose of 64 years in 2014. Frank will be lovingly remembered by his four children, Reg (Sandra), Rod (Sherry Sigurdson), Robin (Georgia Sigvaldason) and Holly Campbell (Don); grandchildren, Andrea Lamond, Quinn Senkow-North (Sébastien), Dayn Senkow (Deanna), Madison and Dempsey Senkow, Tianna and Mason Campbell; and great-grandchildren, Theo and Emmett Senkow and Frédéric North. Also left to cherish his memory are his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. As a young man Frank enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. Frank was an ambitious and driven man with a very strong work ethic that he passed on to his children. His love for education and learning never ceased. Frank earned his Bachelor of Education at McMaster University, and his master's degree at the University of Brandon. Frank spent his entire career as an educator and principal of various schools throughout Manitoba, retiring in Arborg, MB, where he was a long-time resident. He was also a dedicated volunteer serving on various community boards. Frank had many interests and upon retirement he earned his pilot's license and enjoyed the freedom of flying. He was passionate about wildlife hunting with his sons and fishing trips with his family. The annual fishing excursion to Leaf Rapids, MB for more than three decades, brought him such joy that other events were scheduled around this trip. Frank enjoyed many outdoor activities such as meticulously maintaining his yard and garden, ice fishing in the winter months and curling as a young man. Frank and Rose enjoyed travelling together and with family and friends. They travelled to the North West Territories visiting the North Pole, Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk. They travelled to Alaska on several occasions where they became so well-known in the RV Park that they were named Campground Hosts, registering and welcoming guests from around the country. It was in Alaska where Frank honed his salmon fishing skills (once having to dodge a grizzly bear), as well as the art of smoking and canning salmon. Special thanks to Dr. Donnelly for the medical care provided to Frank and for his professional consultation to family members. The family also wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses, nurse's aides and to the entire staff of the Arborg and District Personal Care Home and the support workers at the House of Hope for the heartwarming, tender loving care provided to Frank during his stay. Gone but never forgotten, rest in peace. In keeping with Frank's wishes, cremation will take place and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery. (204) 222-3241. Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com
