  • I'm very sorry to hear of Kevin's sudden passing - a real loss for the WSD. Kevin's cheerfulness was contagious but, more than that, he was trustworthy which was an incredibly important trait. I honestly always looked forward to any meetings with Kevin there! - Posted by: Wendy Winslow (Co-worker at WSD) on: Sep 12, 2017

  • Jen and Andrew our condolences on the loss of Kevin. It has been many years (1995) since we were neighbours at 51 Groveland Bay. May the many happy times with Kevin be remembered. Despite the years we remember him as a fun guy who was over the moon when Andrew came into your lives. Best wishes and may he rest in peace. - Posted by: Bill & Bev Condon (Former neighbour) on: Sep 11, 2017

  • My 3 children had the pleasure of knowing Mr Mowat and he was by far their favourite teachers. Seeing him at parent teacher days and graduations he just brought a bright, positive light everywhere he went. I know he made a huge difference in the lives of many kids from Cecil Rhodes and Tech Voc. Our condolences to his family and friends. He was a truly wonderful human being. - Posted by: Melody (Parent of his students) on: Sep 11, 2017

  • I wish those who loved and valued Kevin – and I’m sure everyone who met him did – strength and comfort in their grief. He was such a wonderful person. - Posted by: Peter Buehler (colleague) on: Sep 11, 2017

  • I'm so saddened to hear about Kevin's passing! I serendipitously first worked with Kevin at Andrew Mynarski school library -- my first job in a library. Working with him was such a pleasure that I thought long and hard about pursuing post-grad education in library science. I would go on to work with him in a number of WSD libraries, contracts that he helped me acquire, before moving to Toronto to pursue library school. Kevin went on to write me letters of recommendation for admission to library school, as well as my first contract job in a school library, and my current permanent position at one of the top law libraries in Canada! My previous employer once told me to "hold onto your professional references!" because of the shining things that Kevin said about me. I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for Kevin and his unbridled passion for education and libraries. He is one of the most upbeat, optimistic, and fun people that I have ever known and the world is lesser for his passing. I will always remember, and be eternally grateful to, Kevin. All the best to his family - Posted by: Erik Chan (Colleague) on: Sep 11, 2017

  • Kevin and I both began as student-teachers at Earl Grey School in 1974. He wa well loved by his students and the staff. Over the years, Kevin was a mentor to my son, Erik, who learned the trick of the trade as a librarian. Kevin also helped me with our library modernization at River Elm School. I am so so sorry for your (and our loss) Jennifer. - Posted by: Thomas V. Chan (Colleague) on: Sep 10, 2017

  • My sincere condolences to the entire family on the sudden passing of Kevin. As a fellow educator and a mutual animal lover, Kevin and i had many conversations as neighbours over the years. I admired him for his ever positive outlook on life, passion for Education, interest shown in others and sense of humour. I will miss him. - Posted by: Ken Park (Neighbour in the Community) on: Sep 10, 2017

  • I liked to call Kevin "Special K" because he was an incredible support when I was a Teacher-Librarian in WSD. I wish I could gather with the library community that Kevin carefully carved out for us. On more than one occasion I was inspired by one of Kevin's favourite quotes and never more so than lately when I've been thinking about Kevin ~ “He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to express it; who has always looked for the best in others and given the best he had; whose life was an inspiration; whose memory a benediction.” ~ Bessie A. Stanley ~ With lots of love and condolences to Jen, Andrew, family and friends from afar. - Posted by: Rhonda Morrissette (Colleague) on: Sep 09, 2017
