DAVID MARTIN JONES (A.K.A., Brother, Jonesy, DJ) December 29, 1963 - September 8, 2017 I held you in my arms so tight, as the Angels took you up to heaven. I hope one day I will understand why you had to go so young? Our world will forever be changed, but we know it will always be guided by your love. You will always be my Prince David, Megan's Barbar and Jaxon's winger. Thank you for loving us with all your heart. Thank you for blessing me with an amazing son and loving Megan as your own. You have been an amazing father, husband, son, uncle, brother, and friend. You my love, have touched and impacted so many lives. Dave's life was surrounded by wonderful people. He was predeceased by his parents Mervyn and Gwyneth Jones. His relationship with his parents was so amazing, and he spoke of them often as he learned to parent his own children. He leaves behind his wife Michelle, his precious little boy Jaxon and his beautiful stepdaughter Megan, Grandpa John, his sister Shan (Payton and Stephan), family from Rocky Mountain House Alberta, his in-laws (Susan/Rene, David/Robbie), sister-in-law Lisa (Rob, Bella and Cameron), and his extended family who have been right beside us through this entire journey; Ken and Peggy Talbot and family, the McLeod sisters (Pam, Deb, Ali) and their families, his Bro Navi, the Unruh family, the Johnson and Brown families, our lake family (Smits, Gaudes Crew, Purslows, and Huyghes), and last but not least, the Life Group and Pastors from the Oasis Church. You have all been so very important in this journey. Your love, strength, wisdom, prayers, and random acts of kindness have been appreciated in countless ways. Dave loved his family and friends with all his heart. He embraced life to its fullest and influenced others with his optimism and positive thinking. Life without him will never be the same. However the incredible memories left behind will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those that truly knew and loved the "Brother". Until we meet again... forever and always my love. Please join us for a celebration of Dave's life at The Gates on Roblin, 6945 Roblin Boulevard in Headingley, MB, on Sunday, September 17 at 2:00 p.m. Friends and relatives are encouraged to share in a photo-tribute, eulogy and condolences for the family by visiting Dave's memorial page at In lieu of flowers, we ask that friends and family bring a memory, a picture, something written, that can be left for little Jaxon and the family to remember the special moments of Dave's life. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • This has taken me a long time to write this, sorry. Dave was a very big part of the Okabe family long before I came into the picture from helping Randy work on cars and spending time at their trailer, trips with Randy. Even before Randy and I started dating, we enjoyed many evenings at the Big "A" with Dave (aka Buns to us) and many other friends. Dave was one of our attendants when we got married and has always been known as "Uncle Buns" to our children. When we moved away from Winnipeg in 2001, we lost our close contact with Dave. We would always call when we came back to town, not always able to connect but having wonderful visits when we did see him. Randy and our son Steven we're lucky enough to meet Jaxon when we were back a couple of years ago, but the past couple of times we came home we were not able to connect with Dave. Michelle, we are so very sorry you, Jaxon and Megan didn't have more time with Dave. His kind sole will be missed by many people. I hope that we will get the chance to meet you one day to chat and exchange stories. Please know that even though we are not with you today, you are very much in our thoughts. Sending lots of love your way, Dawn, Randy, Steven & Kailey Okabe - Posted by: Dawn & Randy Okabe (Family friend) on: Sep 17, 2017

  • Our family came to know David through his parents, Merv & Gwenyth. We started going to Bethesda Church & got to know him & his family there. Our boys, Michael & Trevor became very friendly with David, going out to many events with him & also bringing him back to our home where we all got to enjoy our time with him. David called me 'Mom' and immediately he won our hearts & was accepted in our home as our #3 son. David was kind & had a very sweet spirit! We were very saddened when David became ill. He is with God & the angels now & we will always have good memories of him whenever he comes to mind. We are visiting with family now & are very sorry that we cannot attend the memorial service. David will forever live in our hearts. Love Jon, Carol, Michael & Trevor Kreviazuk - Posted by: Carol & Jon Kreviazuk (Friend) on: Sep 16, 2017

  • We met Davey during the summer of 2015 on the bocce courts at Mona Lisa. Dave always arrived with a smile on his face and never once complained on how he was feeling. He was encouraging, fun and always a gentleman. We were happy to have had the opportunity to meet Dave and send our sincere sympathy to his wife and family..... .We can only imagine how much he will be missed. • I first heard of the Jones family back in the day of Bethesda Church where my family attended. Later on in life my mother taught David at Athlone school and oh how she loved him. He was special to my mum he won her heart. Years later when my mum passed away I was in the basement of St. Aidan's church watching people arrive to her service. It was then I spotted David, suit and tie coming to pay his respects. It was there that I learned she was special to him and won his heart. To me David represented all of the children in my mum's life all of her students. David we love you, thank you for loving us as much as we loved you....See you again one day.
