HELEN ANDRES January 20, 1926 August 21, 2017 Helen Andres went to be with her Lord August 21, 2017. She leaves to mourn, four siblings and three in-laws: Eva Rempel, Margaret Penner, Ben (Luella) Andres, Susie Andres, Ed Rempel, and Luella Mae Andres. She was pre-deceased by her parents, seven siblings and seven in-laws. Helen came to Canada from Russia in 1926 as a baby with her parents and five siblings. She lived 10 years in Saskatchewan, then about 10 years on a farm in Manitoba. She graduated from Briercrest Bible Institute in 1949, then trained to go to Africa both in the United States and in Switzerland. She worked in Africa as a missionary for 13 years, where her experiences were many and varied. After Africa, she worked in Montreal with "Sermons from Science" during Expo '67 and after, then at a Christian book store and also for a legal firm. During all this, she worked personally with many through Bible courses and other spiritual and caring help. After her retirement, she moved to Winnipeg and lived 21 years in a Colony Street apartment, making many friends. A memorial service will be held in her memory at Elim Chapel, 546 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, at 2:00 p.m. on September 30, 2017. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
