BARBARA WLADYSLAWA BAKENSZTOS (nee OLIENIZAK) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother (Babcia), Wladyslawa Bakensztos (nee Olienizak), on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 91 years. Remaining to forever cherish Barbara's memory are her sons, Andrew and Ted; daughter Mary (Doug) Debets; grandchildren, Josey (Brent), Brett, Jove, Melanie, Monica, Christopher (Karlie), Mark, Jennifer and Michael, as well as many great-grandchildren. Everyone that knew Barbara, knew her as their Babcia. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Tadeusz Bakensztos and granddaughter Kimberly, of Winnipeg. Barbara was born in Poznan, Poland and was raised in Gydnia, Poland. She met her husband, Tadeusz, in Norway and then immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba with her sons in 1950. She lived in Winnipeg for 67 years and never moved or wanted to live anywhere else but Winnipeg. Barbara worked many jobs, from elevator operator to housekeeper, while raising her children with her husband Ted. Barbara was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary Legion 46. She loved to cook, fish and play a little Bingo. On Saturday, September 23, 2017, Barbara's funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Interment will follow in the Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery, 4387 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB. The family would like to express a special thanks to the Seven Oaks Hospital, especially the staff in ICU. Our family is very grateful for all their kind words and care given to Barbara.
