RONALD THOMAS TRACY April 18, 1942 - September 28, 2017 The family of Ronald Tracy is deeply saddened to announce Ron's passing on September 28, 2017, at the age of 75, at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Ward after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He will forever be remembered and cherished by Susan, his wife of 49 years, son Chris and wife Tasia, son Mark and wife Natasha, adored grandchildren Brendan, Alexandra, Ronan and Allyson, sister Marilyn Fabris and her husband Len, nieces Breanne (Peter and children) and Lauren, and many cousins. Ron will also be sadly missed by sister-in-law Pat Goertzen (Jim), brother-in-law Ted Henderson (Joyce), stepbrother-in-law Chris Barry (Joanne), many nieces, nephews and other relatives on Susan's side, and many dear and special friends. Ron was predeceased by his beloved parents William and Vivian Tracy, brother Billy, and much loved mother-in-law Anne (Henderson) Barry. Ron loved Winnipeg and was proud that he was a fourth generation Winnipegger and a fifth generation Canadian. He loved sports and in his youth he played hockey and football. As an adult he played baseball, golfed and curled for many years and he enjoyed coaching numerous hockey and baseball teams at Gateway Community Club. Ron was thrilled to be able to play on a slow pitch team with his sons for a season. Ron grew up in a supportive and loving family and he, Susan and their sons became the same kind of family. He was a very devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was proud of his boys for many things, but most of all he was proud that they were such nice people who became amazing husbands and fathers. In the last 10 years, Ron loved nothing better than watching his grandchildren participate in hockey, soccer, baseball and dance recitals. Ron was a kind, gentle and easy going fellow who enjoyed a good party, loved watching sports (particularly the Jets) and he loved his family and friends fiercely. Ten years ago, Ron and Susan bought a trailer at Spruce Sands RV Resort north of Gimli. Their wonderful second home meant the world to Ron and he particularly enjoyed sharing it with his family. His huge, explosive bonfires were a sight to behold and wonderful new friendships were made at Spruce Sands. Ron spent almost all of his working life in automotive aftermarket sales. Twenty years ago he and Susan started a sales agency, covering the four western provinces. He enjoyed that part of his working life more than any other and he was proud of this accomplishment. He particularly enjoyed being the Red Tek rep. The family would like to thank Oncologist Dr. Joel Gingrich, special nurse Cheryl Greaves and other staff at Health Sciences CancerCare, the wonderful Oncology team at Concordia Hospital and the Palliative Care group, whose support and guidance made it possible for Ron to remain at home until his final week. A very special thanks to the wonderful angels who cared for Ron in the Palliative Care Ward at St. Boniface Hospital during his final days. A celebration of Ron's life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on October 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Feel free to dress casually and even wear your favourite sports jersey in Ron's honour. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba would be sincerely appreciated. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
