SCOTT LEWIS 1958 - 2017 It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Scott Lewis, devoted husband, father, grandfather, on October 8, 2017. As per his wishes, Scott passed at home in the loving arms of his loving family, after a courageous battle with ALS. Scott will be forever remembered and cherished by his loving wife and soul mate, Gaylene (Kuzyk); children, Amanda (Carlos) Amorim, Jeffrey (Tara), Steven; four grandchildren, Lucas and Evan Amorim and Holly and Wes; mother Verna Lewis; sisters, Heather (Vincent) Zinni, Beth, Laureen, Verna (Lawrence) Shorting; brother Randy; mother-in-law Helen Kuzyk; sisters-in-law, Adelle Cuillerier, Lila (Craig) Huston, Nadine (Tim) Cobb; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Lori) Kuzyk), Ron (Connie) Kuzyk; special friends, Dawn and Lawrence Rotinsky and Dave Ristau; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Scott was predeceased by his father John Lewis; infant brother John; father-in-law William Kuzyk; brother-in-law Gerry Cuillerier. Scott was born and raised in Winnipeg. He graduated from Technical Vocational High School followed by attendance at Red River Community College to become a Journeyperson Sheet Metal Worker or as Scott quipped - he was a "Ductologist"! He was a member of the Local 511 Sheet Metal Workers Union for 40 years and presented his 40th year award on September 13, 2017. He finished his career working for Pellaers Ventilation. He was grateful for the opportunity to enjoy a career that he loved. On July 14, 1979, Gaylene Kuzyk became his beloved wife of 38 years. Together, with unconditional love and devotion, they created a loving and caring home for Amanda, Jeffrey and Steven - their most cherished gifts. Over the years, they were blessed with precious little angels - Lucas, Evan, Holly, Wes. Scott always beamed with delight and pride in the presence of his children and grandchildren. From an early age, Scott was involved in the community, whether it be playing sports, coaching sports or volunteering. From early morning practices to late night curling games, there was no doubt that sports was one of Scott's favourite pastimes. His love for travel took the family on adventurous camping trips, warm destinations and fun road trips to visit family and friends. His family and friends will forever share in his passion for cars! The family would like to thank Scott's palliative care team. Special thanks to Dr. Donna Clark and nurse Dominique for their exceptional care and emotional support during Scott's final hours; home care workers, Kevin, Sam, JR, Amy and Patrick; Brian and Ann Huff for officiating Scott's Celebration of Life; as well as family and friends for their continued support during Scott's battle with ALS. Scott you accepted your diagnosis of ALS with such dignity, courage and grace. You never complained and when asked how you were doing - your response was always a positive, "I'm good" or thumbs up. You continued to welcome and enjoy the company of family and friends no matter how you were feeling. Scott, you fought a good fight and have earned your rest in the arms of the angels. You are forever in our hearts and we are so proud of you. A celebration of Scott's life will take place Saturday, October 14, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Interment and reception to follow at Chapel Lawn.
